Feeling philanthropic
With Christmas around the corner, the mad dash to grab those last minute presents has begun. The stress is piling up, and with company coming in town, there is no time to waste during this hectic holiday season. Never fear the perfect gift is just around the corner…. Lily and Laura bracelets are the ideal present for friends and family. These beautiful, hand crafted bracelets make for an easy and thoughtful gift. Why hand out the stereotypical Starbucks card when you can make a quick stop by a local boutique and find any color Lily and Laura you could imagine, and more. One special benefit you get from purchasing a Lily and Laura bracelet is the idea of giving to more than one recipient. This particular company is partnered with a local village in Nepal that gives fair wages to women who hand make these mini masterpieces. Although the meaning of buying a bracelet helps support women in impoverished countries, the creativity and uniqueness offered in each of these glass blown, bracelets is worth the inexpensive price tag. This small piece of jewlery is dainty and timeless by itself, but the bracelets are known for stacking and pairing with other accessories. Whether it be the distinguished Michael Kors watch (or my personal favorite) jcrew arm candy, you can score these bracelets for an impressive $12 a piece or 3 for $30. So, about those friends that slipped your agenda in the present department, now you have the perfect gift that not only gives to those in want but those in need.

The Perfect Piko,
I’m sure everyone reading this has heard of the oh so versatile Piko Top. Well, it wouldn’t be a proper Julianna blog without bringing up one of my absolute favorite articles of clothing. The Piko top is the chic and socially acceptable way of wearing your pajamas out in public (or at least that’s how I see it). This shirt stole my heart a few years back (and yes I am speaking as if I am in a relationship with this top) when I worked at my first boutique. I had never heard of this “Piko” top, but the instant I tried it on it changed my views of comfy casual attire. For me, dressing in public are on two separate ends of the spectrum… One where I am wearing running shorts and an everyday sorority shirt, or the alternative when I am sporting my newest find, and ready to go out on the town - never an in-between. Well now that the flowy, oversized garb is back in style, I am proud to say I no longer look homeless when I go to class. Although my lazy clothes never dissapoint, I live by my motto “dress well, test well”, and for those of you that aren’t in school… unfortunatley you don’t have the choice to not show up to corporate America, dressed like the typical college girl, late for her 8 am. But not to worry, my slight obsession with these miracle shirts- known as Piko’s- are the perfect way to get out of dressing in stiff and stingy clothes. Although this top feels like your wearing pajamas, it is an essential piece to my going out wardrobe. If someone finds a piece that looks equally cute dressed up or dressed down, you best believe I am running to the store and grabbing one in every color, which is what my Piko collection has amounted to. The three essentials when pairing Piko tops are:
1. A scarf for the chilly weather
2. A staement necklace for going out
and lastly
3. THE FUR… can’t forget about the trendy, fur vest.
The awesome part about these three pieces, is that they can all fit in one bag – in other words you are essentially carrying three outfits in one (I know… exciting!!!) Through the years Piko’s have gone down in price, and now the most inexpensive place I have come across has been American Threads. If you don’t live next to them, no big deal, you can order them online. Regardless of what critics might say, Piko tops looks great on almost all body styles, and are the most versatile shirt's in my closet. Hope this helps for those wanting to expand your wardrobe!
